Wing Chun Kung Fu
Wing Chun is quick, direct and effective. It is referred to as a middle to short range hand combat system. It is a highly aggressive form of martial art relying on speed, power and technique, with unrelenting attacks, until the opponent is no longer a threat.
The objective of Wing Chun is to hit your enemy as many times as possible without being hit back. To achieve this a Wing Chun Practitioner uses smooth footwork to create angles to open up an enemy’s defence. Speed is essential in Wing Chun, a stylist is taught to block, deflect, evade and then counter with rapid fire strikes, putting the enemy on the back foot. A practitioner of this style attacks with a barrage of machine gun like blows, always looking for gaps in an opponent’s defence.
In Wing Chun most of the attacking tools are delivered with the upper body, using the fists, open hand palm strikes, finger strikes, forearms, and elbows. Kicks and knee strikes are used in unison with the striking weapons of the upper body. Low short-range kicks target the ankles, shins, knee’s and or groin of the enemy. A Wing Chun Practitioner seldom kicks higher than the waist.
A practitioner of this style derives force from the ground up, with a relaxed waist, using the core to create power in all forms of attack. A Wing Chun Practitioner understands how to maximise punching power by using the correct body structure to increase force on impact.
At Qassim Wing Chun we understand your time is valuable and your goals are our priority. We come to train you at your home, workplace or outdoors. We have the latest training equipment from Wooden Dummy, Grappling Dummy, Kicking/Punching Pads, Split Machine, Dumbells, Exercise Bench and much more.
Private classes are one-to-one, personalised classes that accelerate your learning. It has been proven that people learn faster and better with private classes. People of all ages, body types, and levels of fitness can benefit from private classes which are designed around your specific needs and wants. A single private lesson is nearly equal to a weeks worth of regular class training. In a class of 20 students for 60 minutes, you are lucky to get 2-3 minutes of attention from the instructor compared to 100% with a personal trainer.
We also understand that you want a challenging, yet nurturing and safe environment to train in. You do not want a fellow student trying to hurt you just to boost his ego whilst you’re learning. By training one on one with our fully qualified Instructor, your chances of sustaining an injury is diminished greatly. We also understand that you value your privacy during your training and do not necessarily want an audience watching you.
Scientists (Who are they?)
Exercise Scientists specialise in the design and delivery of exercise and physical activity programs to meet the needs of everyday Australians. Exercise Scientists aim to improve fitness and health. This can reduce the risk of developing a medical condition or an injury.
Sports Scientists are highly trained professionals who provide sports science services and conduct research relating to sport in an elite environment such as the AIS, state academy or professional sports club.
They help individual athletes and teams to improve their sporting performance through the use of scientific knowledge, methods and applications in the areas of physiology; biomechanics; psychology; and motor control and motor development.
